In the speech "I have a dream" spoken by Martin Luther King(MLK below) delivers the positive and delightful emotion for freedom of block slavery occurred for decades in America using multiple rhetorical devices. MLK aims citizens of America as the intended audience of the speech, as he used the phrase "Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today" in his speech, mentioning the people listening to speech and even Martin himself is great American.
Martin Luther King used various rhetorical devices throughout his speech in order to deliver his satisfying mood to citizens about the freedom of black slavery in America. MLK commonly used metaphor and Anaphora throughout his speech, he used metaphor multiple times such as "as a joyous daybreak", "Bank of justice" or "Table of brotherhood" to convince the audience to have further imagination about the topic and concentrate in more depth, and also MLK used anaphora to give multiple attention of important phrases.
After reading this blog post, I have a good understanding of what MLK was giving his speech about. I liked how you condensed all the ideas that you had in the introduction. To improve I would give examples for anaphora and not just metaphor's and also check typos in the writing. One question I have : "What do the metaphors listed mean?". Other than that, it was a solid piece of writing.
ReplyDeleteYour blog post was very well written. Your language was very clear, specific and to the point. Ditto to what Wasif said, if you could explain the metaphors and why they were used it would give the reader more insight into MLKs intentions in the speech.
ReplyDeleteI think that your introduction was well written. You have discussed what this speech represents and what it is. The rhetorical devices listed has been backed up with evidence. Something to improve on is to go into more depth on audience as you just aim it towards citizens of america and to identify the purpose of this speech better.
